Thomas Bay Chapter USD 1812 to celebrate the War of 1812
The Thomas Bay Chapter National Society United States Daughters of 1812 will hold the “Ring the Bells” ceremony from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on June 18 to celebrate the bicentennial of the War of 1812 in The Woodlands.
Everyone in the community is welcome to attend the celebration at Central Park at Marker Street. Free corn dogs and root beer floats will be provided to the guests.
A small bell will also be given to everyone in attendance to be rung in unison at noon in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the beginning of the War of 1812.
The event will be presided over by Janisue Rigel, president-elect of the Thomas Bay Chapter, with the assistance of the current president, Lady Dalton.
“Two hundred years ago these brave men of the War of 1812 cemented the strength of the United States and gave us the love of our country and not just for the states where they resided," Rigel said in a press release.
The event is coordinated by the Texas Society Daughters of the War of 1812 along with The Woodlands Township and is sponsored by the Sonic on Research Forest.
