Williams-Sonoma to offer free technique classes

A schedule of technique classes has been released for the summer by Baybrook Mall's Williams-Sonoma, located at 45 South and Bay Area Boulevard in Friendswood.

"American All-Stars" will take place at 1 p.m. July 1 and will feature ideas from the Cooking Channel show “Red, White and Grill.” Participants will be making side dishes and desserts such as Elizabeth Karmel's grilled sauté of greens with smoked bacon, cast-iron skillet corn bread with strawberry butter and Roger Mooking's BBQ baked-bean bruschetta with cilantro pesto on Texas Toast.

"DIY Canning – The Basics" will be held at 1 p.m. July 8 to teach participants the fundamentals of preparing foods for canning.

"Grow, Cook, Eat – Tomatoes" will take place at 1 p.m. July 15. In this class, participants will learn ways to use tomatoes in famous dishes and new recipes.

"DIY Canning – Tomato Sauce and Salsa" will be held at 1 p.m. July 22. This class will teach step-by-step instructions on how to prepare tomato sauce and piquant salsa.

"Grow, Cook, Eat – Summer Fruits" will take place at 1 p.m. July 29. Participants will learn how to use summer fruits in cobblers, salads, drinks and on the grill.

These classes are free and open to the public. Participants will receive 10 percent savings on certain store purchases the day of the class.
