A fall vegetable gardening class will take place from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 18, at The Woodlands Township Town Hall, located at 2801 Technology Forest Blvd. in The Woodlands.

According to the township's website, the class will be presented by writer and horticulturalist Tom LeRoy of Texas AgriLife Extension. Titled "Soil: The Living Layer of Earth," the three-hour class will cover issues related to growing vegetables in Montgomery County.

Reservations for the class are required to ensure there is adequate seating. To make a reservation, go to thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov and click the vegetable gardening link or call 281-210-3800. There is no cost to attend the class.

The Woodlands Township sponsors free seminars on vegetable gardening twice a year, in February and August. Seminars are conducted by horticulturalists who know the area and cover topics including soil preparation, vegetable planting and maintenance and suitable plant varieties for Montgomery County.
